From the narrow, undulating leaves rises intense scarlet flowers, small and neat, with pointed petals and a black blotch at the heart. It will draw all eyes when in bloom and is best seen in little colonies to be effective. Its origin lays in the mountains of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
One of the most exquisite of the wild tulips and perhaps the easiest to grow in captivity. Perfect for a sunny nook in the front border. Grown in pots it will cheer any terrace in sun or light shade. Here in Amsterdam it starts flowering by mid April. Height15cm.
Suggestion: combine with white Anemone blanda, either mixed or gouped side by side. The work well together and will return for years in sun or light shade.
