Crocosmia

Before planting it is best to give the corms a soaking in water for at least 24 hours. Plant corms 6cm deep, 15cm apart. They will flower well in full sun or partial shade in almost any soil. The corms perform best if left undisturbed, so select a favorable location for them and leave them alone. In a place to their liking, the plants can spread quickly and needs to be divided every 4-5 years. After flowering leave the foliage in place. The leaves gather sunlight and provide nourishment for next year's bloom. Remove the leaves when they turn yellow. Feeding is not generally necessary, but a balanced fertilizer can be applied in early summer. In very cold areas (Central Germany, Scandinavia) plants are best protected with a mulch of dry leaves once the foliage has died down. Height 60-90cm.
