Oxalis
The Good Luck plant is native to Mexico and does not survive northern winters outdoors. Flowers are carried above low mounds of clover-like leaves and are lovely planted in the front border or in hanging baskets and window boxes. Plant tubers about 3-5cm deep and 8cm apart; in pots they can be planted closer together. In Northern gardens give them sun; where hot summers are the rule, dappled shade is best. In mildly-cold regions (southern England, south of France) the tubers will survive winters outdoors with a protective mulch of peat or compost. Potted plants are best stored cool and dry until the following spring.
