Agapanthus (African lily)
Agapanthus flowers best outdoors in full sun where they should be allowed to form large clumps. Several kinds are available, but they all like a sheltered position. Most often the plants are grown in tubs or large pots in which they can stand considerable crowding.
Any good potting soil can be used. Place the roots with their crowns at about 2cm below the soil surface. Keep watered at all times during the warm months and feed occasionally with a balanced fertilizer. When flowering is over, reduce watering. In regions with mild winters (southern England, south of France) plants can be left outdoors over winter. In colder regions, move pot indoors before frost and allow the plant to rest almost dry during the cool months.
