Eucharis amazonica

Plant bulbs with their tips at ground level. Any soil containing organic material and sand will do. Once established this tropical evergreen plant may produce flowers once or twice a year. It is not the easiest bulb to grow while it constantly needs a warm environment. A greenhouse with filtered light would be perfect but a sun room or warm window can also meet its needs. The bulbs are best grown in pots and these may be moved outside during the summer months. While in active growth, water well and feed with a general houseplant fertilizer. After the flowers are over, refrain from watering for at least one month.

Eucharis likes to be pot-bound and should not be disturbed or re-potted until bulbs are crowded and flowering suffers. Never allow the plants to be subjected to cold. One bulb fills a 15cm pot, plant 3 bulbs in a 25cm pot. Height 40-50cm.
