Turkestanica
Turkestanica
Turkestanica, a profusion of starry white flowers with orange yellow hearts borne 4-8 to a stem.
Beautiful in drifts, making pleasing pictures and flowering very freely. Given a fairly sunny position it proves most reliable, blooming year after year and gradually spreading by underground stolons and seed. A happy sprite of early spring growing throughout the Tien Shan mountains in Kazakhstan, a land rich in charming wild tulips. Not the showiest of wild tulips but of an authentic charm for those who appreciate the small and exquisite. Its early flowering is a welcome treat for bees and other insects active so early in the year. Height 20cm.
Suggestion: Perfect in combination of other bulbs of the season: Chionodoxas, Corydalis, Crocuses, Erythronium and Scillas.
