Native of California and welcomed by gardeners who wish to go a little beyond the ordinary run of bulbs. In early summer each 50cm stem carries umbels of upward-facing dark-blue flowers in great profusion. This is the finest variety, looking like a small, early-flowering Agapanthus
A rewarding and easy to grow bulb. It takes op little space and looks beautiful rising up from among other plants, introducing a pleasing cloud of blue into the garden. Winter hardy in Holland, in colder regions the bulbs are best given a cover over winter or grow them in pots.
Suggestion: mix Triteleia with Crocus, dwarf Iris, grape hyacinths, daffodils or tulips; they all flower earlier, but you will enjoy several displays in sequence in the same spot.
Suggestion: mingle Triteleia with Allium sphaerocephalon for a remarkable early summer picture.
Suggestion: absolutely lovely with early-blooming Lilium martagon and L. pumilum in sun or light shade.
