One of the prettiest of the wild tulips and one of the most jolly. The strap-shaped foliage forms a rosette upon the ground from which arise short stems carrying several flower buds that open wide to show a bright yellow and white interior.
When conditions are to its mind it increases to form heart-warming colonies. It is quite hardy and does best in a sheltered, sunny situation. Originating from the Tien-Shan Mountains, China. Mid spring flowering. Height 10-12cm.
Suggestion: works well in drifts between bulbs of similar size: Anemone blanda, Chionodoxas, Crocuses and Scillas.
