Red Riding Hood
Red Riding Hood
Red Riding Hood, brilliant red flowers above beautiful thick green leaves marked with purple stripes.
The flowers are large and rather square at the base and open out wide in the sun to show a smouldering black base. An old and well-tried garden tulip that is still very popular. Good to have, if only for the sake of variety and looking well with white and blue flowered bulbs to cool its brilliance. Very useful towards the front of the border. It must be given a dry sunny place in the garden if it is to last. Mid-spring flowering. Height 25-30cm.
Suggestion: traditionally grown with a groundwork of white Anemones but they look even better with blue Muscari, providing a colourful displays that last for weeks.
