Among the most worth while of spring-flowering bulbs. In early spring it sends up vigorous, narcissus-like leaves followed in March and May with clusters of bell-like flowers at the top of 70-80cm stalks, each petal is tipped in bright green.
This is the finest robust form; the bulbs may be left alone year after year to steadily make larger and larger clumps. It is said that they prefer a lightly shaded position, but we have found them to flower even better when they receive plenty of spring sun. Hot dry soils, however, should be avoided.
Suggestion: invaluable in lightly shaded border among ferns and wild flowers (Corydalis, Erythronium), in light woodland and along the waterside (with Fritillaria meleagris).
Suggestion: lovely with late-flowering white narcissus Actaea, Polar Ice and Thalia or the soft-yellow Tripartite.
