Greigii

Greigii, this beauty starts by showing off its crisp and handsome purple-striped green foliage before unfolding immense scarlet cups of absolute perfection.

An easy and spectacular garden tulip, hardy in even the coldest winter and it will return for years if given a warm sunny spot. It inhabits the mountains of Kazakhstan where it colours hillsides red in spring. Still today these tulips are sold in bunches in villages once lining the old Silk Road that connected Europe and the Far East. April- May flowering. Height 25cm. 

Suggestions: the display is greatly enhanced by planting blue or white Anemone blanda at its feet, creating a show that will return for years. Works well with white and blue Muscari as well.
