Erythronium Pagoda
Erythronium Pagoda
Erythronium Pagoda Dog's tooth violets are also known as Trout Lilies because of their handsome marbled leaves which are as interesting as the flowers.
In the early days of spring each bulb sends up clusters of drooping lemon-yellow flowers on 30cm stems. Their gentle beauty is always a delight.
This is the most reliable variety. The flowers resemble Turks cap lilies and shine in dappled light; excellent for lightining up a dull shady spot. Naturalize them in shaded, not too dry situations, under deciduous trees or they may be scattered at the base of shrubs.
Suggestion: Suitable companions are Corydalis, dwarf Narcissus Rapture, Ornithogalum, Trillium and other woodland companions. Great among unfolding fronds of Ferns in light shade; you will not find a better home for them.
