Tommies. Soft silvery-purple crocuses bringing an elfin charm to the garden very early in spring. A delightful flower that appears fragile but is able to stand a good deal of hardship. In Holland it grows around old farms, edging beds, in grass, or growing in old tubs near to the house.
This is the best variety, flowering prolifically in most situations and deer and squirrels generally leave it alone. It seeds freely, but also increases from the corms. Not using this crocus to brighten your garden is missing a real opportunity. Height 8-10cm.
Suggestion: scatter them among other early bulbs like Cyclamen, Chionodoxa, Eranthis, Galanthus and Scilla.
Suggestion: mix with late spring-flowering dwarf Allium cowannii, A. moly and A. unifolium; two shows in one spot.
