Blue Garlic. A handsome and desirable kind with compact 4cm diameter heads of soft true blue flowers in late spring and early summer. Native to the same regions of Central Asia where the wild tulips grow and like them they are winter hardy and prefer a sunny location.
Easy to grow, clumping up quite fast, and if you plant enough of them they create a lovely spectacle dotted about the garden. In common with many other Alliums, its foliage begins to wither at flowering time and for this reason it shows best planted amidst or behind lower border plants. Height 50cm.
Suggestion: a great bulb to use for combinations; lovely mixed in with blue, pink or white Hyacinthoides (wood hyacinths).
