Ballade
Ballade
Ballade, finely cut, violet-mauve blooms with white edges. These are the aristocrats of the tulip clan, elegant and lily-like in appearance, the tallest and latest to flower, lasting in perfection for several weeks.
In sunshine the flower opens star-like with an air of knowing that it turned out well. With their great length and slightly curving stems they are superb for weaving among other border plants. Simply growing alone in a pot they make a truly elegant statement. Height 60cm.
Suggestion: Ballade blends beautifully with solid coloured lily-flowered tulips such as Ballerina and Flashback. Combine these with bold, blue Camassia spikes and a carpet of low-growing, ephemeral Geranium tuberosum for a spectacular end to the tulip season.
