Daisy-like lavender-blue flowers in light and dark shades held above attractive ferny leaves. One of the most rewarding bulbs for both the late winter and early spring garden, trouble-free and blooming for more than a month.
The flowers start off shyly but gather strength as ground temperatures rise in spring. Easy to grow if their simple needs are considered: dappled shade in summer and a soil that never becomes too dry. Perfect as an understory for early daffodils and tulips, lovely interplanted with snowdrops, winter aconites and other early companions. Height 10-15cm.
Suggestion: perfect ground-cover for early flowering tulips Flair, Stresa and Showwinner; or petite narcissus Hawera and Rip van Winkle.
Suggestion: combine with winter aconite and snowdrop to precede them; Chionodoxa, crocus and narcissus to accompany them; and Allium Cowannii and Allium moly to follow them.
