A newcomer to the garden, carrying globose lavender-purple heads in a fluffier, more informal manner than most alliums. Carried on relatively short 40cm stems, the tennis-ball size flowers bring an airy delicacy to the garden that is most appealing.
An easy to grow plant, hardy and even increasing if given a somewhat shady position. After flowering the dried seedheads continue to look ornamental until autumn. Best planted towards the middle of the border since the leaves start to loose colour before the flowers are mature.
Suggestion: looks beautiful with grey-leafed plants; perfect between hosta's and nepeta's. Ideal for use in pots as it is not too tall.
Suggestion: planted in repetitive small groups around the borders they will bring a feeling of unity to the garden.
