A wonderful plant, equally striking in foliage and flower. The handsome blue-green leaves stay close to the ground and from amidst them the large round flowerheads appear in May and June: greenish-white held on short 20cm stems.
It's a feature for rather a long time since the flowers remain attractive when dried and the leaves do not die away as quickly as those of other alliums. A fun subject for the front of the border and lovely in pots. Winter hardy in Holland, prefering a fairly sunny position. In very cold regions, the bulbs are better grown in pots that can be placed indoors over winter.
Suggestion: bright blue Dutch Iris Discovery in the back makes a perfect accompaniment, it will give height to the grouping.
Suggestion: plant together with wild Tulipa Pulchella Violacea, which blooms already by March. Two shows in one spot.
