Pretty dwarf allium with loose heads of warm pink flowers in early summer. In the garden this is a comely kind, easy to grow and perfect for edging borders or along a walkway. Very hardy and happiest in a fairly sunny place where they tend to hold their own and even increase.
The leaves are few and narcissus-like and start to turn yellow when the flowers are at their peak. In the wild this jewel has its home on the slopes of the Tien Shan and Pamir Alai mountains of Central Asia. The flowers are pleasantly scented and delightful for cutting. Synonym: A. Ostrowskianum. Height 10-15cm.
Suggestion: try planting together with Crocus and Wild Tulips to get three shows from the same place: crocus bloom first followed by the tulip, allium closes ranks.
