A delightful wild tulip with an unpronounceable name from eastern Turkistan and the hilly steppes around the Aral Sea. The yellow flowers are coloured brick-red on the exterior. A tough little tulip, well adapted to the dry and windy circumstances of its habitat.
In western Europe this tulip grows taller and less compact than in its native land since we do not have the same intensity of light and in general a more fertile soil. A really pretty ornament for a warm nook in the garden, easy to grow and long-lived. Height 15-20cm.
