Let winter show the slightest sign of waning in January or February and these indomitable plants rush into bloom. They are adaptable creatures, growing in sun or light shade but they look at their best amidst the carpet of brown leaves beneath deciduous trees.
This is the common snowdrop, the most desirable of its kind, possessing a simple grace and strength which none of the others have. When happily placed – a soil that is never quite dry – it radiates health and happiness, increasing in the most generous manner year on year.
Suggestion: room can be found in almost any garden: under a hedge, in shady nooks close to the house, among ferns or about the skirts of shrubs.
Suggestion: it enjoys companionship from Crocus sieberi, Crocus tomasinianus, Cyclamen, Eranthis, Chionodoxa and Scilla.
