Lovely urn-shaped carmine-red tulips edged in white, the flowers folding out flat in the sun. The large green leaves are marked with purple stripes which make these tulips valuable even when they are not in bloom.
Groups of them add interest and sweetness towards the front of the border. And like all Greigii tulips this is a hardy and rugged fellow, returning for years in a sunny spot. Grow it with small flowered blue or white bulbs for a knockout early mid-spring picture. Excellent in pots too. Height 25cm.
Suggestion: heart-warming underplanted with blue or white Anemone blanda or, even better, blue and white grape hyacinths (Muscari).
